WhatsApp begins to gain a feature that will facilitate the transfer of messages and large files from one cell phone to another. The tool uses a QR Code to allow the user to transfer data faster and easier. The most interesting thing is that to carry out this process, it is not necessary to use WhatsApp cloud backup data.

According to the TechCrunch website, the new data transfer feature between two smartphones with WhatsApp requires that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. To start the process, the user must access the application settings on their old cell phone, select “Conversations” and tap “Conversation transfer”. By doing so, a QR Code will be created for you to scan the new phone’s camera and start transferring messages and attached files that are stored in the application.

It is important to mention that, just as sending conversations uses end-to-end encryption, data sent through the data transfer feature via QR code reading is encrypted. This way, there is no way for Meta to access your data when transferring them from the old cell phone to the new one.

Unfortunately, the data transfer feature between cell phones via a QR code will only work if the two cell phones use the same operating system. That is, it will only be possible to transfer data from an iPhone to another iPhone or from an Android smartphone to another Android cell phone.

Release and availability

There is still no date for the launch of the new feature. However, the functionality is already being made available for the beta version of WhatsApp on Android and iOS.
