In the United Kingdom, the independent Law Commission of England and Wales has recently published its “recommendations for the reform and development of legislation relating to digital devices”. The recommendations aim to secure the UK’s position as a global crypto hub. All this by creating a comprehensive and clear legal framework for the digital asset sector. The United Kingdom’s global crypto center is pushing for a role Plus, according to the organization’s announcement, they want legislation with their proposals that would allow all players in the market to gain positive benefits from the use of digital tools. This current resolution came barely a year following a proposal was already made in July 2022 to transform the relevant law. In response to their proposal at the time, the British government asked the Commission to review the current legal framework for digital devices. UK Justice Minister Mike Freer emphasized that the Commission’s work and proposals perfectly demonstrate that English and Welsh law can respond to the challenges posed by developing technologies. The Commission’s proposals include the creation of an expert council. The council would help in solving complex legal cases related to digital devices, among other things. In addition, there was also a proposal to create a legal framework to help the operation and implementation of security agreements related to cryptocurrencies. Of course, this is still only a very early stage of lawmaking. This means that it will be quite some time before there is a legal system in the UK that can be said to be transparent and crypto-friendly.
