Nicolás Vaamonde, the owner of Sens, assured that he will open the bowling alley despite the impediments of the Municipality of Neuquén and the MPN project in the Deliberative Council. This is the nightclub that was set up where Las Palmas worked and where Sergio Ávalos disappeared. The opening is scheduled for Saturday the 8th, with DJ Fer Palacio.

Vaamonde explained that he started the economic venture when the possibility of renting the premises on Primeros Pobladores street arose and clarified that he has other commercial activities, always without inconvenience.

Faced with questions regarding the prohibition of the operation of dance shops in the sector and the judicial investigation into the disappearance of the student Ávalos, he stressed that “the place ends up closing due to a pandemic, not by order of the Municipality or due to any judicial conflict.”

The businessman indicated that Las Palmas continued to operate for 17 more years following the disappearance of the university student and was granted some eight municipal business licenses during that period. It was precisely these qualifications that served as a background to rent the premises.

Vaamonde assured that he presented all the documents to the municipality and that the restrictions took him by surprise. Yesterday, the municipal Executive reported that “Las Palmas does not have the pre-feasibility of land use” and that the pre-feasibility process had never begun.

Faced with the novelty, the businessman said that he dedicated himself to speaking one by one with each councilor and that most were unaware of what was happening.

When asked regarding the reasons for the restriction, Vaamonde stated that he did not know them, but he pointed out that he found it striking that they sought to prohibit nighttime activity in one sector of the city, when it does not happen in others. He was referring to the project that the MPN presented in the Deliberative so that this activity on First Settlers is not allowed, between the roundregarding of Route 22 (Mosconi avenue) and Linares.

Las Palmas reopens: the legal return with which the owner of the bowling alley ensures that he can open

Vaamonde insisted on his surprise at the obstacles put up by the Municipality and the derivation of having to speak with councilors and the media.

Faced with the possibility that the ban on night activities in the Las Palmas sector will be voted on in the July 6 session, the businessman indicated a legal return that would allow him to open. He explained that, in his opinion, his process began several months ago, so a new regulation might not be applied to him.

He recognized that in the case of wanting to renew his license, the restriction might be applied there, but he considered that it does not fit in this first instance.

The businessman remarked that until there is a court order or the Municipality gives him a “solid and valid argument”, he will maintain the opening as planned.

He assured that he has invested more than 100 million pesos and that he stopped the contracts of the 150 employees that he planned to add for the operation. He regretted not having a “plan B” because he would not be able to invest once more in another location, instead he would only have to initiate legal actions to recover the funds that he allocated to the venture.
