This Friday the 30th, registration to apply for the “Free Student Internet Connection (CIEG)” program ends, which provides three gigabytes of free data per month to secondary, tertiary and university students to develop their studies.

This was reported by the Ministry of Community Linkage and Communication. The CIEG program, which already has more than 135,000 registered, was created in March 2023 with the aim of guaranteeing that young people have access to the Internet, a tool that shortens the digital divide and promotes inclusive, equitable and quality education.

How does it work

The benefit will be reflected by the contribution of 1,000 non-cumulative monthly pesos, which will be deposited in the Taca Taca virtual wallet of the Banco de la Provincia de Córdoba. From there it will be possible to know the balance and carry out credit/giga recharges on cell phones. Recharges made from other apps or payment systems will not be considered valid.

The benefit is non-transferable. If it is detected that the balance top-ups were made to a telephone number other than the one declared and/or use not in accordance with what was declared in the beneficiary’s registration, no more balance top-ups will be made in that account.

In order to access the program, the student must be enrolled and have an assigned class schedule for the current school year. Afterwards, you must complete the Single Applicant Form (FUP) on the CiDi platform (have Level 2).

In addition, in the cohabiting group one or more applicants must be under 18 years of age, and in this case the responsible parent or guardian must complete the registration form. Once registered, the government of Córdoba will notify each beneficiary of the access modality and will make the contribution in the Taca Taca virtual wallet of Banco de Córdoba.

Parents/guardians who have more than one dependent child will be granted the benefit multiplied by the number of declared beneficiaries. That is, one virtual wallet per family group.
