It is the specialized and well-informed media WABetaInfo which reports the novelties brought by the last update of the beta version of WhatsApp. It had been expected for two years: until now, we only knew that the feature was in development. Some beta testers see the sending of so-called “photos” high quality “. Sending photos with this feature does not compress them or reduce definition.

In the bubble of the message containing the photo, a label appears to indicate that it is a photo “High quality“. We also learn that, in recent weeks, several users have noticed that all this might also apply to videos. Whereas previously affected users had no control over the videos, this is now done.
How to send lossless photos on WhatsApp
To send photos in the highest quality, just click on “HDin the photo editor. A window appears allowing you to select “standard quality» or «HD quality“. Each time, we can see what will be the definition and the size of the file that will be sent. For videos, if the dimensions remain the same, compression is still applied.
Also note: the standard quality mode is the one selected by default, so each time you want to share a lossless photo, you will have to change this parameter.WABetaInfoclarifies that only certain beta testers are entitled to this feature, but that it will be rolled out more widely in the coming weeks, still in the beta version of WhatsApp.
