Hwang Eui-jo
[헤럴드경제=이명수 기자] It was found that the mobile phone in question that Hwang Eui-jo (31, photo), a national football player, lost in Greece on November 4 last year was an iPhone used in Korea. At the time of the loss, he was living in the dormitory of the Greek team, and he said that he always carried this mobile phone in his bag and used it mainly for watching videos.
According to Kukmin Ilbo, an official from UJ Sports, Hwang Eui-jo’s agency, bought an additional mobile phone for local use while living abroad. He explained that his mobile phone, which he used as an air instrument, had disappeared.
This official said, “(Hwang Eui-jo) checked the bag containing the iPhone machine following returning home from the training schedule for the day. That’s when he found out that his cell phone was missing,” he explained.
He said, “It is difficult to enter (accommodation) except for members of the team. There is an iron gate hanging several meters high around the accommodation, and guards are guarding it.” Therefore, there is a possibility that it is an insider of the team or an employee of the accommodation. However, UJ Sports said, “I immediately reported the loss of the cell phone to the club, but there was no CCTV in the accommodation, so I mightn’t find the culprit who took it.”
At the beginning of last month, regarding half a year following the incident, Hwang Eui-jo received a threatening message from a person with no name saying, “I will distribute (video),” “Expect it,” and “It will be fun if it is released.” On the 25th, an Instagram user who claimed to be Hwang Ui-jo’s ex-lover posted an article claiming that “Hwang Ui-jo is in a relationship with a number of women and causing damage,” and also shared related photos and videos.
On the 26th, Hwang Eui-jo’s side filed a complaint once morest the unnamed man who sent a threatening message to the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and use of filmed material under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act and intimidation and coercion. Two days later, the police transferred the case to the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
