More than 200 people in Havana will participate in a national rehearsal this Sunday by dancing casino in the official opening of summer in Cuba. In addition, all those who want to dance in the rest of the country can join. The truth is that the island is committed to breaking the Guinness Record for the largest rueda de casino in the world. This would be possible thanks to the international project “Retaking the Son Bailando Casino”.
In this sense, Luis Manuel Llamo Castro, deputy director of the project commented that they currently have more than 700 registered dancers.
However, this figure is insufficient to break the record, which Venezuela currently holds with more than 1,585 people.
Llamo Castro and the promoters of the project plan as a strategy to set the new record in May 2024. But, although many organizational issues remain to be resolved, everyone is confident that they will achieve the goal.

The first thing they are doing in order to prepare the way to break the record is the organization of several tests.
These rehearsals, which are organized jointly with the country’s authorities, will allow the idea to be outlined and preparation for the final moment.
One of them was held on May 7 in Havana and the rest of Cuba, concluding a mega rueda de casino. This served to celebrate Son Day, as a tribute to all the musicians who have defended the genre throughout history.
