Food supplements invade the shelves of pharmacies. Said to be natural, they have already been consumed by one in two French people. Still, there are health risks.
Increasingly present in the hands of influencers, food supplements are making a name for themselves on social networks. Capsules, lozenges, chewing gum, the products are extremely varied. The promise is beautiful: to have beautiful skin, to be in better shape, but should we be wary of it? Édouard is a consumer. Every morning, it’s the same ritual. He opens his little boxes to take vitamin supplements. They use them because it’s vegan. It is difficult for him to have all the necessary nutrients on his plate.
One in two French people has already consumed it
Like Edouard, more and more French people are tempted. According to a study, one in two people have already consumed it. In pharmacies, the success is not denied. Dozens of brands invade the shelves. The demand keeps increasing. And for good reason, there is no need for a prescription. The market is competitive, companies are trying to stand out.
However, these so-called natural products are not trivial. The National Food Safety Agency warns of possible adverse effects, sometimes serious. A doctor alerts him to drug interactions. Some drugs are particularly contraindicated, especially with the use of certain food supplements.
