There have been no sedans in the Russian range of the Chinese brand Chery for many years – the supply of classic four-door cars was discontinued back in 2016, and since then the company has relied on a line of assorted crossovers in our market. The company did not dare to compete with the sales leaders represented by the compact family of related sedans Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris in the junior segment of the market, as well as with the larger Toyota Camry and Kia K5 models.
However, now that most of the foreign brands that were involved in the sale of sedans in our market have curtailed their work in Russia, the path is clear – and in the current conditions, when the market is suffering from a shortage of new cars, Chery is returning to the previously abandoned segment. Subsidiary brand Omoda, which is part of Chery, has already begun selling Omoda S5 sedans, and representatives of the parent brand announced the debut of a larger Chery Arrizo 8 model with a length of 4780 mm, built on the same (albeit slightly stretched) platform.
By the way, regarding the dimensions: the distance between the axles of the novelty reaches 2790 mm, the width of the body is 1843 mm, the height is 1469 mm. In Russia, the sedan is offered only with a 1.6 TGDI petrol turbo engine (186 hp, 275 Nm) and a seven-speed “robot” with two clutches, front-wheel drive only. The motor is adapted for AI-92, the consumption in the combined cycle is 6.2 l / 100 km, in the city – 8.5 liters, in the countryside – exactly five liters. The claimed acceleration time to 100 km / h is 8.9 seconds, the maximum speed is 205 km / h. As for the chassis, the sedan has McPherson struts in front, and a multi-link suspension in the back. Ground clearance is standard for cars of this class 144 mm.
The company claims that Russia is one of the key export markets, which is partly why the creators did not immediately publish images of the interior. The fact is that for the Russian market, the novelty was expected to have a salon modified for local buyers, but in the end, the architecture of the front panel turned out to be the same as that of the Arrizo 8 for the Celestial Empire – with two 12.3-inch screens of virtual tidy and a media system. So the interior of the model for Russia will be one to one, like the Arrizo 8 in the home market.
Today Chery finally announces the start of sales of Arrizo 8 sedans in Russia. Recommended price for Chery Arrizo 8 in the starting Prestige configuration with six airbags, leather interior, electric and ventilated front seats, climate control, a media system with a navigator, all-round cameras, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, a set of electronic assistants, light and rain sensors, keyless entry and remote engine start systems, 18-inch wheels and a built-in video recorder is 3 million 400 thousand rubles.
A sedan in the Ultimate configuration with ten airbags, a panoramic roof, a built-in air freshener, electric lumbar support in the driver’s seat and an expanded range of electronic assistants will cost 100 thousand rubles more (total 3 million 500 thousand rubles). And at the top of the range is the top version of the Ultimate Special Version with a golden decor on the body, a black roof and a two-tone interior for 3 million 550 thousand rubles. It is curious that the top version can be ordered in emerald color – other shades are not allowed for it.
