New Parking Rule in Brussels: Registration of Vehicles for Card Holders for Disabled People

New parking rule in Brussels for holders of a card for disabled people, or their companions: they will now have to register the registration of their vehicle as soon as next July 8.

In this way, almost all derogation cards for municipal parking regulations (resident, professional, visitor cards, etc.) will be automatically recognized when reading the registration of a vehicle. This is not the case today for people with disabilities, because they continue to exist in paper form. They therefore escape the parking control.

Parking.brussels therefore offers four solutions:

– One-time registration via customer service, by mail or at one of the counters. “The registration of the car is then linked to the status of person with reduced mobility of its holder“, says parking.brussels.

To submit a request, the regional agency asks to send an email to [email protected]. This email must contain a copy of both sides of the parking card for people with disabilities and indicating the license plate to be registered.

– The recording of the parking session via the 4411 application. “Once an identifier has been created with the number of the parking card for people with disabilities, the registration of the vehicle used adjusts itself in a few clicks and is recognized in real time by the scanning vehicles when a parking session is started using the button installed for this purpose in the application or on the website“, explains Parking.brussels. The session ends at midnight.

– Check-in via the new disabled button on parking meters (symbolized by a wheelchair logo). This especially concerns people with reduced mobility who often change cars.

– Sending an SMS to number 4411, for people with reduced mobility who often change cars. The message must be worded as follows: PMR space BRU space license plate number space card number.

Parking.brussels clarifies: the four solutions do not exclude the possibility of changing vehicles”thanks to the new functions of the mobile application and the parking meter“. It remains mandatory, in all cases, to have your parking card visible behind the windscreen.
