A letter of intent between the FIVMPAMA (organ of the economic employers of Madagascar) and the French Fund Pierre Castel in favor of Malagasy entrepreneurial youth was born, mid-June 2023, during the 10th edition of the National Days of the Diasporas of Africa (JNDA).

The three-month discussion between the respective leaders of FIVMPAMA and the Pierre Castel Fund ends with a serious collaboration between the two entities. A letter of intent between Rivo Rakotondrasanjy (President of FIVMPAMA) and Pierre De Gaétan Njikam Moulon (General Manager of the Pierre Castel Fund) was signed in Bordeaux on June 16, 2023 in the midst of the tenth edition of the National Days of African Diasporas ( JNDA). The theme was “Youth entrepreneurship, a lever to meet food challenges in Africa.”

Through this letter, the two entities aim to concretize a project which is the accompaniment of the Malagasy entrepreneurial youth within the agricultural and agri-food sectors.

The Pierre Castel Fund shows its determination to support Malagasy SMEs in a more effective and impactful way. The FIVMPAMA already has, among other things, a support project for students at the end of their engineering course at the Higher School of Agronomic Sciences of Antananarivo.

Rivo Rakotondrasanjy is delighted with this event in the presence of the godmother of the JNDA, the former French minister Elisabeth Moreno. This one has

declared: “I am part of this African diaspora who came to France to study. France gave me value. I gave value to France. Today, it is my duty to bring value to the continent where I was born.”

During 2022, the Pierre Castel Fund is pursuing its mission of supporting African entrepreneurial youth in the agriculture and agri-food sectors, with a commitment of its actions in two new countries. Or Algeria and Madagascar through Castel El Djazaïr and Star Madagascar, Castel subsidiaries in Africa.

The integration of the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Agronomiques (ESSA) within the “Food Systems and Entrepreneurship in Africa” Chair aims for a better future for future engineers

The experimental phase of the “food systems and entrepreneurship in Africa” chair having been completed, the Pierre Castel Fund will move forward.

For Madagascar, the major challenge is to make growth more inclusive by allowing its population into sectors with higher productivity, such as the agricultural and agrifood sectors. In the process, the FIVMPAMA aims to promote two strategic axes: the work of vertical reinforcement of the SME sectors, and the establishment of an investment fund which will serve both as a vehicle and as a channel to enable the diaspora to direct its contributions to development.
