In this note on household consumption expenditure during the Aid Al-Adha holiday, the HCP also notes that the last two years have been marked by inflation, particularly for food products, noting that between 2019 and 2023, the price of meat recorded an average annual increase of 5% (7.2% between 2021 and 2023).
This increase would have repercussions on the average price of slaughter animals on the occasion of Aid Al Adha in 2023, specifies the author of this note, Abdeljaouad Ezzrari, economist at the Observatory of the living conditions of the population. at HCP.
It also emerges from the publication that Moroccan households, in particular the most disadvantaged, have to face exceptional expenses caused by this event, the weight of which on their monthly budget is 42% for the 10% of the most disadvantaged households, once morest 13.3% for the wealthiest 10% of households.

This proportion was 4.7% in 2013-2014 and 5.2% in 2000-2001.

The average price of animals slaughtered per household amounted to 2,000 dirhams in 2019 once morest 1,840 dirhams in 2013, thus registering an increase of 8.7%.
Also, spending on meat on the occasion of Aid Al Adha represents 29% of the annual household budget allocated to meat consumption. This share is 32.6% among the households of the poorest 20% of the population and 25.5% among those of the wealthiest 20% of the population.
