One domino following the other falls – and that also depresses inflation

Vienna (OTS) – “The falling electricity prices confirm the successful course of the Federal Chancellor. Karl Nehammer managed to start a wave of energy price cuts. With his announcement to energy companies that he would consistently skim off excess profits, a lasting effect was achieved: electricity prices are gradually being reduced. This is thanks to Chancellor Karl Nehammer and his team,” emphasizes the Secretary General of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, who praises the government’s correct approach and points out that the situation on the energy markets has normalized. As of June, Salzburg AG, Energie AG Oberösterreich, TIWAG and Verbund have already lowered their tariffs. Energie Steiermark, Energie Graz and Illwerke will follow from July 1st. Wien Energie has finally announced an energy price reduction as of July 1 – due to pressure from the Federal Chancellor.

“Karl Nehammer will continue on this course in the interests of the people. Because it is clear that the high energy prices have greatly fueled inflation. Now the energy companies are finally passing on the falling prices to their customers and inflation is being curbed. One thing is certain: the population can rely on Karl Nehammer and the federal government as strong partners in challenging times – and will continue to do so in the future. Because they are taking the appropriate steps for support and relief,” said Stocker, who finally emphasized: “The Federal Government has succeeded in getting Austria through the period of multiple crises. A mix of quick, unbureaucratic measures and structural measures, such as the abolition of cold progression, have meant that people’s purchasing power has been preserved.”
