I have read the letter from Mr. Ricardo Dougall on sports in Neuquén, whose criticism I share. The mention of Kike Messineo reminded me of an event that occurred in 1961 if I remember correctly, when he was a duty officer at the Neuquén Capital Police Station.
I was surprised by the presence of a former GN comrade, the non-commissioned officer, Major Messineo, with whom I operated at the Gendarmerie Group radio station until 1956. Messineo denounced that the previous day a bicycle had been stolen from his son Kike from the sidewalk of his house. The bike was new, racing and imported. Due note was taken, there was no result and days later I was transferred to San Martín de los Andes.
One day, in the followingnoon, I went out to walk around the town with two agents -on foot- and three blocks from the police station and in front of a store I saw a shiny bicycle on the sidewalk that caught my attention. And my surprise was greater when I saw that on one of the chrome pipes there was a red sticker that said KIKE.
I entered the store and located the alleged owner of the bicycle, whom I invited to accompany us to the police station with the vehicle, from whom he might not tell me who he had purchased it from. Immediately followingwards I went to the radio station of the 33rd GN squad whose operators I knew and via radiotelegram I notified Messineo that the bicycle was there and would be dispatched to Neuquén as soon as possible. This little story is just one of the ones that I can tell from my time with the Neuquén Police, which ended with my discharge “due to repeated insubordination”: political lies, since in reality it was due to the fact that I denounced irregularities in the force, that another day I will tell.
