Kim Min-jae (Napoli)’s move to Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga is in sight. It seems that the transfer will proceed following Kim Min-jae, who is currently undergoing basic military training, is discharged.

Fabricio Romano, a European soccer transfer expert, said on his SNS on the 28th (Korean time), “Bayern Munich is optimistic regarding Kim Min-jae’s deal,” and “In two weeks, an individual agreement is almost reached. Important details will be discussed following the military service is over.”

“We plan to sign a contract until June 2028. The buyout (minimum transfer amount) is up to Bayern Munich,” he added.

Kim Min-jae, who jumped into the Italian stage at Fenerbahce in Turkiye in August of last year, played a key role in helping Napoli win the league championship following 33 years, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in 43 official matches (35 league matches). Kim Min-jae also enjoyed being selected as the best defender in Serie A this season.

As Kim Min-jae performed tremendously, the number of clubs participating in the recruitment match increased. In particular, Kim Min-jae’s buyout clause will be activated for regarding two weeks from the 1st of next month, and is known to be worth 60 million euros (regarding 83.5 billion won). Since the price is rather cheap compared to top-class defenders, many clubs are ready to open their wallets.

Initially, Kim Min-jae was likely to go to Manchester United (Man United), but Manchester United distanced itself from the recruitment of Kim Min-jae as the club takeover process was delayed. In the meantime, it is said that Munich participated in the war and started negotiations quickly.

Currently, German media and others reported that Kim Min-jae has agreed to join Bayern Munich and will sign a five-year long-term contract until the 2027-2028 season. In addition, it is known that Munich will pay Kim Min-jae’s buyout to Napoli, and has offered the player an annual salary of 10 million euros (approximately 14 billion won) per season.

Kim Min-jae, who received military service benefits with a gold medal at the ‘2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games’, entered the Army Nonsan Training Center on the 15th to receive basic military training. He is scheduled to leave on the 6th of next month.

Munich, the club representing Germany, won the Bundesliga last season as well and succeeded in winning 11 consecutive defeats. Jung Woo-young (Freiburg) played two games in Munich’s youth team in the past.

Munich are currently looking to reorganize their defense. Matais de Ligt, Dayo Upamecano, Benjamin Pavard, and Luca Hernandez guarded the defense. Munich is trying to recruit Kim Min-jae following disposing of Pavar and Hernandez.

Meanwhile, Munich is preparing to recruit not only Kim Min-jae, but also Harry Kane, a colleague of Son Heung-min (Tottenham). Munich offered Tottenham £60 million (approximately 99.4 billion won), but Tottenham is said to have rejected it first.
