Roger Martínez’s Farewell: Reflecting on His Time with América and His Fond Memories

After five years in the ranks of the America clubin a few days Roger Martínez will end his stage as azulcrema, a team of which he will take great memories and of which he declared himself one more fan.

In an interview with the Super Deportivo medium, the Colombian recalled what he experienced with the Eagles team, in addition to sharing all the good things he takes with him from Mexico following five years living in Aztec lands.

“Very nice (memories). I have made very good friends. I grew fond of the club and I am leaving as a fan of the America. Also, I have a Mexican son, that’s what I take with me from here. When he’s older, we’ll see if he plays for Mexico or Colombia.”

In the same talk, the coffee player took stock of his time at América, a team he joined in 2018 following his brief stint at Villarreal in the Spanish League.

“They were five years of being in this beautiful club, I think the balance was positive in every way. The first three, I shared an extraordinary group, where I was able to contribute a lot in the three titles we won. It is true that I had ups and downs, but It’s something normal, especially in an institution that demands so much from you. I’m very grateful to the fans, teammates, coaches, managers”.

“Serving five years in such a big club is not easy at all. I like that pressure. When I’m doing things well, they recognize it, but also when I’m not doing it well, they mark it for you. It’s not easy For any player to come to America, it’s a hobby that demands a lot from you”.

Finally, Roger Martinez He was a bit disappointed at not having been able to win another title with the Eagles, a team with which he won the MX League, an MX Cup and a Champion of Champions.

“I’m leaving with that bitter taste of not having achieved the longed-for 14, which we all wanted. But I’m also proud of the three titles I won here and the fact of being the Colombian who scored the most goals in America.”
