Vienna (OTS / RK) – GR Johann Arsenovic (GRÜNE) was pleased that the majority of Viennese sports facilities have been extensively renovated in recent years. City councilor Hacker has complied with the sports facility development plan that he presented in 2020. Arsenovic also thanked the agreed path for all sports investments, including those of the former red-green city government. The work of MA 51, which would make a significant contribution to the sports city of Vienna, deserves special mention. Many Viennese would get involved in sports in Vienna. For example, most of the tenants of the large sports facilities would take great care of the facilities. Clubs that do good work should be given more support, Arsenovic demanded.
GRin Dr. Katarzyna Greco, MIEM (ÖVP) explained that it is important to find your way around the health system from an early age. You also learn “digital before outpatient before inpatient”. Prevention must be given priority. School nurses are an example of this, they are a great help and support for both minor ailments and chronic diseases such as diabetes. Greco tabled a motion to expand the school nurses system. In another motion, Greco called for a guideline that supports women from puberty on with relevant information regarding their and their family’s health.
GRin Dr. Claudia Laschan (SPÖ) emphasized that the Vienna municipal council had already decided on the Vienna women’s health program in 1998. However, there is still a need to catch up in gender medicine. Because in pharmacology, men and women are not equal. Nevertheless, women would still get the same dose of medication. Awareness of gender medicine must be raised, and women must be supported. Health promotion in Vienna is a good example of how health skills can be taught. Countless projects in 19 districts have already been carried out with the aim of promoting health literacy. Sport is also an important part of health promotion. Among other things, Vienna relies on countless clubs and physical activity units in schools.
GRin Mag. Bernadette Arnoldner (ÖVP) explained that the city of Vienna offers a wide range of sports, but “there is more”. Prevention with sport and exercise is essential, also for integration and inclusion. In Vienna there are many clubs that are run by great employees, some of whom are volunteers. The expansion and modernization of Viennese sports facilities is essential. The sports facility development plan is good, but the budget for it is “a drop in the ocean”. Arnoldner criticized that the area of the sports facilities had decreased by eleven percent, while the population was growing steadily. A digital booking system for sports facilities is also urgently needed. Arnoldner submitted a motion for an annual progress report on the sports facility development plan.
GR Mag. Michael Aichinger (SPÖ) also thanked all departments as well as City Councilor for Sports Hacker, who is also 100 percent committed to sports in Vienna. MA 51 runs around 50 sports facilities itself. These were used by 1.5 million users last year. 80,000 trainer hours were held there. Aichinger then thanked the employees of the Vienna rescue service. 260,000 rescue exits are handled by 800 paramedics every year. The vehicle fleet is also essential for a modern rescue. Therefore, the fleet is constantly renewed. Aichinger also wanted to particularly emphasize the psychosocial service. Especially during the Corona period, he managed an enormous influx and further developed projects. Victims from the Ukraine are also cared for here. We stand for a public health system that is accessible to everyone. The city of Vienna does not let anyone down.
GR Ing. Erol Holawatsch (ÖVP) said that the city has some catching up to do when it comes to digital improvements in healthcare. More digital applications would make healthcare easier for everyone involved. With the help of a digitization strategy, the exchange between doctors and other health workers would also be facilitated. Data protection has the highest priority and the privacy of patients must be protected. Holawatsch submitted an application for the establishment of an advisory board for digitization in the healthcare sector. (cont.) bon
