BERLIN (AP) — German police and prosecutors were searching Catholic Church property in connection with an investigation into the archbishop of Cologne over allegations of alleged perjury, authorities said Tuesday.
Investigators also searched the premises of a computer company that provides email services to the archdiocese headed by Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki.
The religious is being investigated for alleged false testimony before a judge regarding when he became aware of the allegations of sexual abuse committed by clergy from his archdiocese.
Woelki has denied the accusations, which have stoked the anger of Catholics once morest the Church.
