Asobo and Xbox Game Studios announced Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 during the Xbox Games Showcase earlier this month, which is pretty much what it sounds like; a new game in the long-running series, which debuted in 1982.
This time, we can expect not only to fly various aircraft, but also to do missions such as “search and rescue, helicopter cargo transport, air ambulance, crop dusting, mountain rescue” and much more (even aerial firefighting). During FlightSimExpo 2023, which took place in Houston last weekend, Asobo and Microsoft had a long presentation on the game, which you can check out ici.
Among other things, director Jörg Neumann explained that these won’t be your typical video game missions that we get to play, it’s primarily a simulator, not a game:
“We probed a lot of things, and the only thing of all [les différents types de joueurs] was that people wanted more things to do. We said, ‘OK, cool, good enough, let’s go do things like that.’ But we’re not a game. So we don’t do game-y type missions at all. What we do are specific aviation activities. We work with many organizations across the planet that do these things. Who do firefighting, who do search and rescue. »
We can also expect a much better client this time that will install a bare minimum of what you actually need to play the game. This will not only make the game more manageable, but will also reduce installation and loading. We also got information regarding the full seasons that are planned and extreme weather conditions like tornadoes.
Below are the latest screenshots from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, which will launch on PC and Xbox Series S/X next year.
