When the iPhone 14 was launched last year, the Emergency SOS via satellite it seemed something quite impressive, as it allowed contacting the rescue even without a mobile network signal. There are already, in this sense, cases of people who were saved thanks to the resource, as happened with students trapped in a canyon in Utah (United States).

Now, we have one more such situation: Juana Reyes broke his leg while hiking Tujunga (Los Angeles, USA) with friends in a remote part of Trail Canyon Falls in Angelos National Forest. The accident happened following part of the track fell off while she was walking over the path.

According to the ABC7, they tried to contact emergency services, but their cell phones had no mobile network signal. The good news is that Reyes’ device was an iPhone 14, which has Emergency SOS via satellite. So she contacted rescue through the feature, having been saved, as we can see in the heroic scene below.

The rescued woman was left at the hospital and is doing well, recovering at home. According to the LA Fire Department, this was the third “iPhone rescue” of the year. Although Reyes didn’t even understand how the feature worked (she wasn’t sure if it was through satellites), it was the Emergency SOS that saved her and prevented even more inconvenience following the injury.

It is worth remembering that the function is only available in some countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal and other European countries. Apple promised two years of free use of the feature from when it is available in the user’s region. An iPhone 14 or newer is required to use the solution.
