On Monday, the Italian authorities criticized a man who carved the name of his fiancée on the ancient Colosseum building, and was photographed by tourists.

The man, a young man, was photographed smiling near the wall where his fiancée’s name was carved.

And the Colosseum is one of the oldest buildings in the world, and it is two thousand years old, and it has survived since the time of the Roman Empire, when it was used as a wrestling ring, a theater, and a large stadium.

“I consider it very dangerous, and a sign of great indecency, for a tourist to deface one of the most famous places in the world, the Colosseum, to engrave the name of his fiancée,” Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sanguliano wrote on Twitter.

“I hope that whoever did this will be identified and punished according to our laws,” he said.

In the video clip published by the minister, the young man appears to be using a wrench to carve on the stones of the Colosseum.

And the Italian news agency ANSA reported that the young man wrote “Ivan + Halle 23”.

If identified, the young romantic will face a fine of no less than 150,000 euros for defacing the Colosseum, in addition to a possible prison sentence of up to five years, the newspaper reported.

According to the location National GeographicThe Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater, was built during the reign of the Flavian emperors as a gift to the Roman people.

Construction of the Colosseum began sometime between 70 and 72 BC under Emperor Vespasian, and it opened nearly a decade later and was modified several times in the following years.

The huge building includes eighty entrances to the runway, and it can accommodate more than fifty thousand spectators at its maximum capacity.

When the Colosseum first opened, Emperor Titus celebrated a hundred days of gladiatorial games.

Emperors traditionally attended the games, and the Colosseum also hosted dramas and public executions.

By the 20th century, nearly two-thirds of the original building had been destroyed. However, a restoration project was started in the 1990s to repair the Colosseum, and today it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in modern Rome, hosting millions of visitors annually.
