The couple alleged that in 2019 they requested a refund from OceanGate, the company that owns the Titan, but never received anything they paid for.

“Money is a driving force in our economy, but honor, respect and dignity are more important to the human soul”the couple said in their statement, in which they announced that they will no longer continue with the lawsuit.

The occupants of the Titan were the millionaire Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood with his son Suleman, a 19-year-old student; British explorer Hamish Harding; the French explorer Paul-Henry Nargeolet and the CEO of the firm OceanGate, Richard Stockton Rush.
