Long injured, Khris Middleton did not have his best season with the Bucks. However, the franchise does not have a short memory and would be misguided enough to cut ties with its two-way back. Milwaukee won’t splurge, but the trend is toward continuity. Khris did not refuse his player option for nothing.
On the Milwaukee side as on the Middleton side, the desire is to continue together. It now remains to find common ground on the contract, its duration and the pépettes at stake. When he is available, Khris is always an essential member of the Bucks group. This is indeed the problem, “when it is available”. In 2021-22, Middleton was injured in the second game of the Playoffs, during which he did not play once more. He missed the start of the 2022-23 season, only played 33 games in total, never returning to his best level.
So, while waiting to find the “real” Khris Middleton, the Milwaukee front office does not want to take any risks with the rear contract. In the mind of Jon Horst (GM of the franchise), KM22 would be worth a contract of around 100 million dollars over four years. An annual amount of 25 million, well below the player option of 40 million recently declined by the player. This is also a sign that both parties are moving towards a long-term extension. It is hard to see Khris saying no to such a pile of tickets without having the assurance of a contract on the table in the near future.
???? There is a world in which Khris Middleton extends to the Bucks for 100-110 million over 4 years.
A free agent, Khris has been hurt a lot and the Bucks wouldn’t want to overpay him.
By negotiating smartly, Milwaukee might also + easily extend Brook Lopez. pic.twitter.com/E4lXL7g4fA

The re-signing of the triple All-Star not being the only priority in the Daims offices, the management must ensure a certain financial flexibility for its other files… Brook Lopez in mind. With Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Grayson Allen still under contract, renewals for Brookie and KhriKhri would secure Adrian Griffin his 5 major for next season. Portis, Connaughton, Beauchamp and Carter are still there, that’s the almost complete rotation of the Bucks. The elimination was certainly early this season, but the group has not changed much since the title of 2021 and the reasons to shake things up are not legion.
After the failure in the Playoffs this season – no offense to Giannis – a departure from the Greak Freak lieutenant would be a second blow for the Wisconsin franchise. Nothing official or concrete, we still have no certainty in this case. But, to bet, the relationship that began in 2013 between Cream City and its full-back should not stop anytime soon.
