This young woman wanted to be a doctor and was researching potential treatments for her painful condition.

Lily Tay’s family announced that the brave young Australian “passed away peacefully” at Laurel Hospice at Flinders Medical Center last Wednesday.

Tay was battling autoimmune autonomic gangnopathy (AAG) – a rare condition where a person’s body attacks its own nervous system.

The debilitating illness left her unable to walk, drink or eat without becoming sick, with the 23-year-old in constant pain.

Her friend and fellow therapist, Jessica Jane, revealed that Ms. Tai had spent the last few years of her life desperately searching for treatment options for her condition.

She revealed that the girl underwent several surgeries, but she did not lose her smile throughout the painful moments.
