Photographer Injured in New York Pride Celebration: Shocking Attack Rocks Washington Square Park

A photographer was seriously injured following he was hit in the back of the head with a bottle while filming a fight in New York’s Washington Square Park at the Pride Sunday celebration.

The victim, who posts on his Twitter account under the username of @NJEGmediawas bleeding profusely from the head while receiving help from police officers in images by another photographer posted on the same social network.

The photographer was taken to the hospital, where doctors found he was also bleeding from his brain, according to a colleague, who was at his side, the New York Post reported.

“I’m in the hospital with @NJEGmedia. The doctors just told me that he is bleeding from the brain,” the colleague tweeted.

So far the condition of the injured man is unknown.

The incident took place when authorities were on high alert over reports of assaults, stabbings and bottles thrown into the air following the LGBTQ+ Pride march in New York.

In the images of the photographer’s social network, you can see people dancing in the middle of the street and on top of vehicles while the spectators cheered them.

Washington Square Park was littered with trash as the crowd celebrated Pride.

The New York City Pride March is an annual event that celebrates the LGBTIQ+ community.
