‘Slow Zamastan’, a tiny country in the California desert
A country that claims to be a country, but is not officially recognized by international organizations

Slowjamastan was built by Randy Williams, a radio DJ from San Diego, USA on December 1, 2021.
Williams, who set a goal in life to visit 193 countries registered with the United Nations, reached her goal with Turkmenistan last May. When he had no more countries to visit, he decided to create the 194th nation himself. In response, he purchased regarding 45,000 square meters of land in the California desert.
Afterwards, Williams, who claimed to be a ‘sultan’, founded Slow Zamastan, saying, “I am too tired of living in an ordinary country.”

There are several other absurd laws in Slow Zamastan. If you play ‘Mumble Rap’, a type of hip-hop that doesn’t care regarding pronunciation, you can listen to albums by famous hip-hop artists such as LL Cool J, De La Soul, and Cool Modi, and learn regarding the difference between true hip-hop and mumble rap. Reports must be at least 500 words long.
Also, if you put your foot on the dashboard of the car, you will be banned from riding the vehicle for 30 days following cleaning the dashboard. Speeding is not allowed unless you bring home tacos. Failure to do so will result in removal of roadside rubbish or a foot massage from Weirilhams. String cheese that is torn lengthwise is also prohibited.

When asked regarding the form of government, Williams replied, “a dictatorship that is sometimes a democracy.” “I will hold a referendum from time to time,” he added, “recently we voted on which fruit and sport and animal will represent this country.”
He said that the micro-countries he has visited so far have been greatly influenced by the establishment of Slow Zamastan, and that there are regarding 5,000 people waiting to become citizens of the place.
Meanwhile, according to the 1933 Montevideo Convention, in order to be recognized as a nation, territories, people, government, and diplomatic capabilities are necessary conditions. Williams now claims to have met all conditions.
