This Saturday evening (June 24, 2023) at the Kay Dada space in Case-Pilote, 5 couples of zouk dancers competed in a competition to designate the winning team that will represent Martinique at the grand finale of Codi-Zouk International in Martinique from August 18 to 20, 2023. Competitors from the African continent, the Antilles and Paris are expected.

At the Kay Dada space in Case-Pilote, more than 300 people attended the Codi-Zouk Martinique finals, the last stage before the big international finals in August 2023.
Under the theme: Tribute to Kassav’, the 5 finalist couples presented two dances. For the first passage in front of the judges, the piece of music was chosen by the competitors. On the second pass, you had to dance to a Kassav’ number.
It was a moment of great emotion for everyone, especially for the winning couple Vanessa and Yanis, who chose to dance to the title Wep Wep.
This is only the second edition of the Codi-Zouk competition and the competition is already taking on an international dimension.
Its designers Jean-Marc Templet and Patrick Andrey, with the choreographer Moïse Rippon, devoted a lot of time and resources to this competition and to the codification of the movements and steps of zouk.

The grand finale of the Codi-Zouk Internationale will be held in Martinique from August 18 to 20, 2023. Couples from Gabon, Togo, Burkina Faso, Paris, La Réunion and Guadeloupe will be in Fort-de-France to try to worry the Martinique team with Vanessa and Yanis.
The dancers all have a high level of expertise. According to the organizers, the Togolese couple already have an exceptional technical and artistic level. African countries would like to take the trophy home. West Indians are warned…
