St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) – “The starting position has changed since 2005, that much is certain. We have an acute shortage of doctors throughout Europe and also in Austria, which will continue to worsen in the coming years. At the same time, it is a fact that we have too few training places in Austria overall and also train medical professionals, most of whom leave within a few years of completing their studies and are therefore not available as employees in our clinics. It is therefore legitimate to demand that medical students from abroad should have the same admission requirements as in their home country. This is a set screw that we can and must turn so that we can continue to guarantee the best medical and nursing care in our country,” says Ludwig Schleritzko, the state councilor responsible for clinics.
