“A week ago I was doing my workout [avec les Spurs, ndlr], and it went pretty well and I know they were interested in me for the Draft. I was scared because we were getting close to the end and I thought I wasn’t going to get drafted really. But in the end, they trusted my team, my family. Now I’m here with them and it’s a real pleasure.”
At the Spurs, Cissoko will find Victor Wembanyama, with whom he has often shared the floors but never in the same camp. The time has finally come for young talents to join forces.
“It’s crazy that we’ve come this far. We have always been in rivalry since the U9, U10 until U13. He was with the Hauts-de-Seine, the 92 and I with the 91. He won several tournaments with the Hauts-de-Seine and me too with the 91. It always went well but we didn’t think at all that we would be teammates one day in the NBA.”
