A series of armed robberies, in less than 12 hours, in the 12th, 14th and 18th districts, led the Chicago police to alert the community to be vigilant to avoid becoming victims of these crimes, authorities reported in a announced this Saturday.
According to Chicago police, the assaults occurred between Friday at 10:00 pm and Saturday at 7:10 am, in which people are robbed or vehicles hijacked.
The suspects get out of a red sedan, approach the victims, show them the firearms and demand that they hand over the cell phones and wallets, according to police.
“In one of the incidents, a vendor and his customers were also robbed in the early hours of the morning,” according to the Chicago police statement.
The places where the robberies occurred are:
· 1800 block of West Grand, Friday, June 23 at 10:00 pm.
· 1900 block of West Ohio, Friday June 23 at 10:15 pm.
· 200 Block of West Institute Place, Friday June 23 at 11:50 pm.
· 1000 Block of North Milwaukee, Saturday June 24 at 12:05 am.
· 1300 Block of North Paulina, Saturday, June 24 at 12:07 a.m.
· 1900 block of 21st St., Saturday, June 24 at 7:10 am
Police described the suspects as four or five young African American men, ages 20 to 25 who were wearing dark clothing. According to authorities, the suspects are armed with handguns and black semi-automatic rifles.
