Vincent Bolloré’s appointment of Geoffroy Lejeune as head of the Sunday newspaper does not pass through the editorial staff. After a first vote, almost unanimously, of a strike at the time of the announcement of the arrival of the former managing editor of Current Valuesthe staff of the JDD once more voted, this Saturday, by a very large majority, to continue the movement.

The editorial staff of the newspaper, which will not be released this Sunday, is on hold until Tuesday, June 28. The arrival of Geoffroy Lejeune is a “red line” for the editorial staff, wrote the society of journalists (SDJ) of the JDD in a press release. “The drafting of JDD refuses to be led by a man whose ideas are in total contradiction with the values of the newspaper”, she added, following a vote of 98% in favor of the renewal of the strike (80 votes “for”, two ” once morest”, three “no opinion”). “The teams also demand recognition of the legal independence of the editorial staff and guarantees as to the exercise of their profession in compliance with ethical rules”, continued the LDS.

The fear of a line tipping

The drafting of JDD fears to see repeating a method already denounced elsewhere in the media controlled by Vincent Bolloré: waltz of the leaders and interventions on the editorial line, fear that it will switch to the far right, at the cost of a possible haemorrhage of journalists. At JDDGeoffroy Lejeune succeeds Jérôme Béglé, himself appointed managing editor of Paris Matchanother title of the Lagardère group, whose absorption by Vivendi, the group of the ultra-conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré, has just been authorized by Brussels.
