The Carolina Hurricanes have extended the contract of their captain, Jordan Staal, for four seasons according to reports Chris Johnston of TSN. According to Pierre LeBrun, the agreement would bring in $2,900,000 per campaign for the 34-year-old veteran.
Once the deal is finalized it will be 4 years and $2.9 M AAV as @reporterchris also said here.

Staal completed his 11th campaign with the Hurricanes last year. He scored 17 goals and added as many assists in 81 games. In the playoffs, he had two points and six assists in 15 games.
The third of the Staal family completed a 10-season contract with the Canes at the end of the campaign. He is also one of the last players to sign a contract for more than eight seasons, the 2013 collective agreement preventing players from extending with their team beyond eight seasons. Like Sidney Crosby and Jonathan Quick, Staal signed his contract on July 1, 2012, although the agreement did not come into effect until the 2013-2014 season.
