Massive Fire at Cascades Paper Bales: Latest Updates and Firefighters’ Heroic Efforts

The fire, which started on Friday evening, in Cascades paper bales, is of accidental origin, probably of electrical cause, entrusted the lieutenant to the operations, Yanick Grenier, of the Fire safety service of Kingsey Falls.

Kingsey Falls firefighters were able to count on the assistance of at least nine fire safety services. Firefighters from Warwick, Danville, Val-des-Sources, Saint-Félix-de-Kingsey, Chesterville, Victoriaville, Princeville, L’Érable Regional Fire Department, and Notre-Dame-du-Conseil/Sainte-Clotilde- de-Horton came to lend a hand. The fire mobilized up to 70 firefighters.

Agents from the SIUCQ MRC d’Arthabaska were also deployed to ensure the security perimeter and the rehabilitation of firefighters.

To help firefighters complete the extinguishment, mechanical shovels and loaders are used.

The officer assessed, Saturday morning, that their work would continue for a good part of the day.
