(Ecofin Agency) – Ivanhoe operates the Kamoa-Kakula copper deposit in the DRC, which it believes will become the second largest mine in the world in a few years. Its Board of Directors is currently chaired by South African Marna Cloete.
The Canadian mining company Ivanhoe Mines, active in the DRC on the Kamoa-Kakula copper deposit, announced on June 23 the arrival of two new members to its Board of Directors. They are the former Vice-President of the Republic of South Africa Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka (photo, on the right), and the Burkinabé Delphine Traoré (photo, on the left), director of Allianz Africa.

Mlambo-Ngcuka served as the first woman Vice-President of the Rainbow Nation, between 2005 and 2008. She joined the United Nations in 2013 as Executive Director of UN Women until 2021, before taking over the reins of the University of Johannesburg in January 2022.
As for Ms. Traoré, she had served on the Board of Directors of Allianz Africa since February 2017, as Regional Director of Operations. It was in November 2021 that the new administrator of Ivanhoe became the general manager of the continental subsidiary of the German insurer.
