Vienna (OTS) – The Danube Island Festival, which is taking place for the 40th time this year, has been in full swing since yesterday. And this year, the Vienna fire brigade will once more make a significant contribution to the safety of the expected millions of visitors. The fire brigade will be present with personnel, vehicles, boats and equipment on the festival site, which is several kilometers long, on the New Danube, the Danube River and in the surrounding area. This ensures that help can be provided quickly if the worst comes to the worst.

“The Donauinselfest has long since become a fixed date in the Viennese summer. This year, too, the festival program offers the right offer for all age groups and for every taste in music. I would like to thank the Vienna fire brigade for their commitment, which contributes to a safe island feeling,” says fire brigade councilor Peter Hanke.

Rapid intervention times and short distances are particularly important for events with a large number of visitors. The on-site fire brigade forces can react quickly and efficiently to different requirements at Europe’s largest open-air event – both on land and on water. Particular attention is paid to the adjacent bodies of water. For this reason, rescue divers and crewed firefighting boats are constantly on site. On the Danube Island itself, the firefighters will be stationed in the area of the safety island, among other things, and will therefore be able to provide rapid assistance throughout the event.
