Dakar, June 23 (APS) – Senegalese President Macky Sall had a one-on-one with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, on Friday in Paris, APS learned from Senegal’s presidency.
During this meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the summit on the new global financing pact, “the two heads of state discussed bilateral relations between Dakar and Paris”, underlines the Senegalese presidency on its Facebook page. .
She affirms that the cooperation maintained by the two countries ”is doing well” and ”translates the desire of the two heads of state to strengthen their ties of friendship and economic partnership”.

The Paris summit for a new global financial pact opened Thursday at the Palais Brongniart.
On the first day of the summit, Macky Sall participated in a Presidential Roundtable on the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa, on the theme: ”Mobilizing finance for project preparation and development and unlocking private capital to accelerate investment in green infrastructure in African countries”.
Senegal will receive 2.5 billion euros, approximately 1.639 billion 892 million 500 thousand CFA francs, from several international partners to increase the share of renewable energies in its electricity mix to 40% by 2030, announced Mr. Sall during this meeting.
A press release published by the Elysée stresses that ”the partnership will offer significant opportunities for investments from the private sector, sovereign wealth funds and philanthropic foundations”.
”To enable the acceleration of this deployment of renewable energies, international partners and multilateral development banks will mobilize, for an initial period of three to five years, 2.5 billion euros of new and additional funding, starting in 2023. Additional funding may be mobilized during and beyond this period to support Senegalese ambitions.”
“This partnership will allow the acceleration of the deployment of renewable energies, so as to bring the share of renewable energies in installed capacity to 40% of the Senegalese electricity mix by 2030”, continues the press release.
