In her presentation, the Director General of the ANP, Nadia Laraki, underlined that the year 2022 continued to be marked on a global level by the disruption of global supply chains induced by the effects of the health crisis and the fallout from the geopolitical crisis linked to the war in Ukraine.

Nationally, she said, the year was mainly marked by drought and its direct impact on the level of the cereal harvest.

In this context, the volumes handled at the commercial ports under the ANP reached 87.2 million tonnes, down 4.2% compared to 2021.

The main strategic traffic recorded contrasting variations. Thus, cereal imports increased by 23.2% and hydrocarbon traffic increased by 9.4%. However, container activity fell slightly by 2.9% and ore traffic recorded a net decline of 14.4%.

In terms of sectoral regulation, the ANP continued to consolidate the various regimes for carrying out port activities during the past year, through the establishment of four contractual frameworks linked to concessions and the granting of 54 authorizations for carrying out port activities.

With regard to port authority missions, the Agency continues to anchor the best standards in this area, in particular by renewing the ISO 9001 version 2015 label for the Port Authority of Nador, Al-Hoceima and Agadir, strengthening aids to maritime navigation and the modernization of port safety and security tools.

In terms of the development of the port offer, the Agency has mobilized nearly 730 million DH as part of its investment program for the year 2022, the main projects of which concern the reinforcement of the main breakwater of the port of Nador, the development of the 3rd access to the port of Agadir, the massive dredging of the ports, the rehabilitation of the fishing quays in the port of Agadir, the excavation of the port of Casablanca and the servicing of the administration area and the access area to the new port of Safi.
