The cloud feature is not very popular with Xbox Game Pass subscribers and is mostly used on consoles.
Cloud gaming hasn’t caught on with gamers yet, and it looks like it won’t anytime soon. This also suggests a statement by Xbox Vice President Sarah Bond.
Bond said in cross-examination that Xbox cloud gaming was not very popular compared to other features in Game Pass. You would also make losses with it at the moment.
According to them, gamers mainly use the function on consoles to be able to play games immediately while downloading them.
“We’ve found that it’s really being used by our players as a feature for the console. Because when you want to play a game, you don’t have to wait for it to download, you can play it right away while it’s downloading in the background, and that’s the bulk of xCloud Gaming’s usage today.”
Bond went on to reply when asked if she thought xCloud was a separate market, stating that it was more of a delivery mechanism and didn’t exactly deliver the best gaming experience.
Bond said: “The games that are streamed are designed for the console, but they are streamed to another device so it’s not always the best gaming experience.”
