The municipalities located east of Hesbaye were not spared by the torrential rains observed this Thursday at the end of the day. But some were more affected than others. “We are on a war footingsays the mayor of Oreye, Jean-Marc Daerden. We have 50 centimeters of water at the bottom of Otrange but there is also stagnation in Bergiler, Lens-sur-Geer… All the villages are affected. Fortunately, few houses were affected, “Except for a few flooded cellars and garages. And there’s no mud in the villages. It’s manageable at the moment, fingers crossed.”
In Crisnée, the authorities noted three flooded garages and a mudslide from a potato field, which poured into the bottom of rue Joseph Wauters. “Our pools are working well at the moment but they are full. We hope it will stop raining”, launches the mayor, Philippe Goffin. It should be noted that the town’s two storm basins benefit from buffer zones which can receive any overflows. “One can receive 50,000 liters of water, the other 20,000 liters.”
Several interventions were carried out by municipal workers in Waremme, “but mainly for flooded cellars and requests for sandbags. Only one street was flooded because of the drains which do not follow. Things remain under control but we are monitoring it closely”explains Hervé Rigot, the alderman of Works.
In Remicourt, the mayor, Thierry Missaire, informs that only a few streets “have been crowded”. Donceel whom we also contacted did not inform us of any problem, “For now”.
