To meet the demand for data centralization on a single platform, the company created an information hub that concentrates the different business applications and with a more efficient and secure experience
São Paulo, June 22, 2023 – Data silos, that is, when each area of a company collects and works on its information in isolation, can be a detrimental factor for business operations. With the aim of having a single hub of the company’s different sources of information, which would facilitate access and allow management and governance of these assets, Ourofino Agroscience, a company that develops solutions focused on protecting crops in Brazilian agriculture, adopted the tools of Microsoft Azure and Power BI to unify from ERP systems to market data sources, in an integrated way. As a result of this development, teams today benefit from more efficient analysis, reducing the revenue closing process from 40 to 20 minutes, for example.
The project, which had the support of OneSolution, a Microsoft partner company that works with customized technology, data and cloud solutions, is part of the company’s innovation and digital transformation area, which was concerned with offering a complete and unified experience, with a focus on data governance. “Our concern has always been the quality of data management and being able to use them in the best possible way. Another important point for the company was to have the minimum handling of this data, to guarantee the security and quality of the information”, says Alex Viana, Technology and Digital Transformation Coordinator at Ourofino Agrociência.
Currently, the company’s data processing is done in an automated way, generating savings in execution time and reducing efforts to extract data that was done manually. through the Power AutomateMicrosoft’s task automation platform, information is extracted, then transferred to the data repository Data Lake and treated in Data Factorya Microsoft Azure data integration service, which ultimately results in automatic updating on Power BIplatform on which the data will be analyzed.
For Viana, “the main benefit is the ecosystem that was created with Microsoft tools. This process is very much aimed at facilitating the routine of the teams. Our main objective here is to do a data self-service”, he comments.
With the correct treatment of data, today the team can be sure that the extracted information is reliable. The data is treated, manipulated and audited to guarantee its quality and ensure that it can later be used to generate insights and more assertive decisions in the company.
“Security in data processing is a decisive factor in the digital transformation process and the case of Ourofino Agrociência illustrates how cloud technology can be used to bring more efficiency to processes and benefit teams and businesses, from the most diverse areas, from extracting and manipulating data in a reliable and accurate way”, says Andrea Cerqueira, vice president of Corporate Sales for Customers and Startups at Microsoft Brazil.
The implementation of the project included a team training stage, with training classes focused on user experience and data solutions, in addition to training to teach how to handle information in Power BI. Another positive point was the implementation of Power Service BI, which, in addition to generating official corporate reports, which are sent to the company’s leadership team, allows the areas themselves to generate their own specific reports by business vertical, helping to promote access to strategic and relevant information on the needs of each sector and, above all, for data security.
