XDefiant will hit the market as an option for fans of multiplayer FPS in the style of the Call of Duty franchise, offering a new shooting experience focused on PvP. Developed and published by Ubisoft, the game is one of the French giant’s bets to conquer the competitive online scene. With factions inspired by the company’s franchises, the game offers CoD-style gameplay, but with some characteristics of its own.

After conducting a closed beta and also an open beta, XDefiant will possibly be ready for release. Despite not having a specific date announced, the game should arrive at some point in the Brazilian winter for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC.

Totally free

The new competitive FPS developed by Ubisoft is a completely free-to-play game, that is, the title is free for all players. Even following its launch, any player will be able to download the title free of charge on all platforms. Thus, XDefiant presents itself as a very accessible option for fans of shooting games.

CoD Killer?

The search for a “CoD Killer”, a game that surpasses Call of Duty, is already old in the games industry. Many games hit the market with that promise and failed to deliver. However, the fact is that XDefiant has already gained the reputation of being a CoD killer, whether ironically or not.

While many players criticize the multiplayer of Modern Warfare 2, the current title of the Activision franchise, the new Ubisoft game seems to emerge as a strong competitor. With gameplay very similar to Modern Warfare, the free game follows a pattern similar to CoD in different aspects including movement, aiming and match dynamics.

Whether XDefiant will really be a CoD Killer nobody knows, and the mission is very complicated, but the truth is that the game has already achieved enough prominence to be compared with one of the greatest franchises in history.

Xdefiant modes

Microsoft’s competitive FPS offers matches played between two teams of 6 players, with varied modes and maps inspired by great franchises from the French giant.

Domination: Mode known to all FPS players, which gives teams the mission to dominate three points on the map for the longest time to score.
Occupation: Teams need to dominate a control zone that appears randomly on the map. The zone of control changes throughout the game.
Zone Control: Similar to Occupation, but offers two objectives and puts teams on both defense and offense.
Shooting guard: Divided into two shifts, the mode makes teams have to escort the objective to the delivery point. Whoever completes the course in less time wins.

Factions of XDefiant

All factions in XDefiant are inspired by the main franchises developed by Ubisoft. Each faction has a set of characters, and you are free to choose your favorite, who you want to play with, through the game’s menu. In addition, each character also has unique skills that appear as a differentiator in the gameplay.

Cremators: This faction is inspired by the villains of The Division, and has two active skills. The first is a drone that burns everything in its path, and the second is a Molotov cocktail capable of dealing good damage. The ultra-skill is called Purifier, which offers the player a powerful flamethrower.
Freedom: Leaving directly from Far Cry 6, Liberta is a faction formed by revolutionaries from Yara. Among his abilities is the BioLife Boost that recovers his life and also that of his allies. Supreme Medic is the faction’s Ultra skill, allowing you and your teammates to have a huge health boost.
DeadSec: Of Watch Dogs Deadsec members arrive in XDefiant to exploit technology during combat. With Interception, it is possible to hack abilities activated by the enemy. In addition, you can also use a Spider Robot that serves to stun an opponent that is nearby.
Level: Inspired by Splinter Cell, this faction is the best option for those who want more stealth skills. With the digital camouflage suit, it is possible to be practically invisible during matches. In addition, the strongest skill in the class also gives the player the iconic and powerful 5.7 Pistol used by Sam Fisher.
Phantoms: Inspired by Ghost Recon, this faction is focused on defense as it is able to create a magnetic barrier that blocks shots and other attacks from enemies. With the passive skill, the class also increases your health, which can give you a good advantage over your enemies.
