Sheikh Awaida Othman, Secretary of Fatwa at the Dar Al Iftaa, said: He missed the dawn prayer He woke up late and prayed the morning prayer as he used to pray the dawn prayer.

And Othman added, during the live broadcast on the Dar Al-Iftaa page, that the morning prayer for those who missed the dawn prayer in this way rises and performs ablution, then prays the two rak’ahs of the Sunnah before the dawn prayer, then performs the obligatory two rak’ahs of the morning, as the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, taught us.

The secretary of the fatwa explained that many people perform the morning prayer only two rak’ahs without the tribal sunnah, so this is permissible, and this is permissible, although it is better to pray the tribal sunnah to obtain the greatest reward, especially since the supererogatory prayer erases sins.

Is the Fajr prayer valid without the two rak’ahs of the Sunnah?

For his part, Sheikh Muhammad Abdel Samie, Secretary of the Fatwa at the Egyptian Dar Al Iftaa, said that the basic principle in the Fajr prayer is that it is only two rak’ahs, but whoever is not keen on the Sunnah then he renounces goodness and misses out on himself the great credit.

And he added, in response to a question, “Is the Fajr prayer only two rak’ahs valid without a Sunnah? That the Prophet recommended for us to persevere in the Sunnah, as if God opened the doors of goodness for us, and we did not take anything from it and left it.

And he pointed out that whoever performs the obligatory prayer only, his prayer is valid and there is no harm in it, so whoever persists in the obligatory prayers will be saved on the Day of Resurrection, except that preserving the Sunnahs in them is a seize of goodness and blessing.
