Kochi: The income tax department raided the houses of prominent YouTube vloggers in the state. The offices of some vloggers are also being searched. Mathrubhumi News reports that the house of regarding 10 people, including actress and presenter Pearli Mani, is being searched. Income Tax Department officials have also visited the homes of Sebin and Saju Muhammad.
The inspection started on Thursday morning. Many YouTube vloggers earn up to two crore rupees per year. But the income tax department has found that the correct tax is not being paid. At present, those who have an annual income of more than one crore are under investigation.
Officials are checking the records of vloggers’ financial transactions. This is the first time in the state that the Income Tax department has focused on vloggers. It is also indicated that a complaint related to tax evasion has been received once morest them.
