One day following the Serious incidents that occurred in the Jujuy Legislature following the approval of the new provincial Magna Cartareferents of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) met this Wednesday and established a critical position towards the government of Gerardo Morales. However, the proposal Pablo Moyano to carry out a national strike as a measure of protest was not accepted and the workers’ union leaned towards a more ‘dialogue’ position, although they clarified that remain in a state of “alert and mobilization”.

Omar Plaini, an ally of the trucker leader, was the one who made the proposal for a national strike, in solidarity with the repressed protesters yesterday followingnoon in Jujuy. During the meeting held on Azopardo street there was no agreement to move in this direction and, at the initiative of Hector Daerthe organization ended up adopting the means of dialogue as the basis for reestablishing “social peace” in the province.

Within this framework, the CGT finally declared itself in a state of “alert and mobilization” and clarified that he will closely follow how the situation in Jujuy continues, but for the moment he avoided calling a national strike on this issue.

“The dialogue did not exist, and in the provincial PJ they said that they accompanied because the ruling party had the votes (to approve the reform), which We deplore from here because they should have taken into account what the labor movement, the original peoples and the majority of society were raising.“, remarked Héctor Daer, one of the members of the CGT triumvirate, at a press conference at the headquarters of the power station on Azopardo street.

Support of the local PJ for the approval of the new Constitution in Jujuy

The referent of the union of Health maintained that “lack of dialogue” by the government of Jujuy “it is a practice that has been systematic and culminated in what we all would have wanted not to happen.”

“Just last minute on Tuesday, the governor called to get out of the reform three articles that affected the original peoples and one that affected the rights of protest. That cannot be a constitutional reformDaer complained.

He added that having won the recent provincial elections “does not give social and political legitimacy for a constitutional reformbecause it is one thing to draw up a law and another thing is a reform that must be accompanied by a great social consensus, something that did not happen”.

“The problem is not one day, it is a succession of days, in which the labor movement and the original peoples have petitioned to participate in the new Constitution,” he recalled.

“Violence is not encouraged by anyone but it is avoided with the possibility of dialogue and finding ways to carry out any type of modification of a Constitution,” he closed.

Pablo Moyano demanded “the immediate release” of the detainees

In turn, his colleague from the tripartite leadership, Pablo Moyano, demanded “the immediate release of the compañeros” who were detained due to the protests in Jujuy.

The remaining member of the triumvirate, the Barrionuevista Carlos Acuña, pointed out that “the Jujuy labor movement has shown that problems are resolved through dialogue” and remarked: “the solution cannot be found by shooting or sticking.”
