She specialized in romantic writing, and this was overshadowed by the titles of her novels, such as “The Battle of Love”, “The Jasmine Tree”, “My Love We Will Not Separate”, “You Are My Captive”, “The Heart Always Triumphs” and “The Ship of Dreams”, and her collections of stories “In the past we had Rain,” “The Last Bet,” “New Year’s Eve,” and “Excuse me, it’s love.” The Egyptian writer and novelist Iman Al-Omari focuses in some of her novels on history and archaeological sites in Alexandria, Luxor and Aswan, because of her love for history and her vision that we can draw inspiration from the era of the ancient Egyptians, ideas and values that help us develop, and places can be benefited from dramatically.
Iman Al-Omari told Al-Ittihad: The ancient Egyptian temples are not just stones, but heritage and human stories, symbolizing good and evil, which she did in her novel “The Ship of Dreams”, where the temples were part of the event, and sometimes explained it. She explained that when she uses a civilization with values, which is the ancient Egyptian civilization, this adds a wonderful symbolic dimension, and clarifies what she wants to show.
Al-Omari believes that the short story must mainly express reality, because it is a realistic and definitive moment in a person’s life, while the novel is a life that cannot be straightened without love, which makes her novels closer to romance, and her stories closer to reality.
Iman, since she was ten years old, has been associated with the stories and writings of Tawfiq al-Hakim and Ihsan Abd al-Quddous, and learned from them that a writer can communicate in a simple and easy way that young and old understand, each with his own vision and level of understanding. A state beyond description of pleasure and beauty, and he did not take his due as it should, and I got to know many writers at the Arab and international levels, and I benefited a lot from them.
Al-Omari explained that in her early novels she relied on one hero, but in “The Ship of Dreams” a development occurred that she considered important, as it was more like collective heroism, through parallel lines and a struggle between wealth and poverty, due to the nature of the event, and the presence of a group of people in one place and period of time. specific, it was necessary to create interactions between them.
The author admits that she has benefited from her journalistic work, opening several fields for her, meeting people with a variety of experiences, writing things in her works quoting personalities she met professionally, and learning from journalism the agreement of form with content, and benefited from the method of dialogue and description.
She said that the novel is a world that can open up beautiful horizons and fields for drama, and there are some novels that were presented in more than one medium and in more than one language, such as Naguib Mahfouz’s “Beginning and End”, which was presented in Mexico in a movie that achieved tremendous success despite the difference in society.
