The John Wick saga is extremely popular. Only, for the director of the film Platoon, the franchise is so violent that it becomes disgusting.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is “disgusting beyond belief,” director Oliver Stone said in an interview with Variety. Known for Platoon, Scarface (1983) and JFK, he explained that he might not stand the violence in the saga led by Keanu Reeves. “Keanu Reeves kills, what, three, four hundred people in the movie. And as a combat veteran, I have to tell you that no death is believable. I realize that it has become more of a video game than a movie. The franchise has lost touch with reality,” he continued.

He then explained that he was bored and that he no longer saw the originality of the license, which might be compared to a Fast and Furious or a Marvel. “Whether it’s a Marvel super-human character or just a human being like John Wick, it makes no difference. It is not believable,” he added. However, the man is not done hearing regarding the franchise, as a fifth installment of John Wick is already confirmed.

John Wick 5 already in development

John Wick 4 Chapter 4 was a real theatrical hit that managed to generate over $428 million. It is only natural that a fifth opus was announced by Joe Drake, president of film productions at Lionsgate. That’s not all, a video game is also in development, as well as spin-offs. “Ballerina will be the first spin-off to be released next year. We are currently developing three other projects, including John Wick 5 and a television series, The Continental, which will air soon. We’re building that world so that this fifth movie happens organically,” Drake explained on an investor call.

By the way, we recently had some news from The Continental. The scenario will take us to the eponymous hotel, which serves as a hideout for the assassins. We will discover the origin of the character Winston Scott, who intends to take over the establishment. In the casting, we will find Mel Gibson (Mad Max) in the role of Cormac, but also Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction), Nhung Kate (Hollow), Jessica Allain (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Colin Woodell (Ambulance) who recovers the role of Winston Scott.
