Today is World Music Day. June 21 is observed as World Music Day. World Music Day was first celebrated in France in 1982. It was organized by the then French Minister of Culture, Jacques Lange. Jacques Lange and Maurice Fleuret started the Fête de la Musique in Paris on the summer solstice. That is why World Music Day is known as Fête de la Musique.
