Italy Affirms Support for UAE’s COP28 Presidency and Collaboration on Climate Change Efforts

ABU DHABI, 21st June, 2020 (WAM) — His Excellency Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, affirmed his country’s full support for the UAE’s presidency of the Conference of the Parties “COP28”, through the exchange of experiences between the two countries in many sectors to ensure the success of the event.
Tajani also stressed, in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, the depth of friendship between Italy and the United Arab Emirates, and the importance of dealing with climate change issues in a practical way, explaining that his return to Abu Dhabi was only three months following his previous visit, which took place as part of the delegation accompanying the Prime Minister of Georgia. Meloni comes to emphasize the depth of friendship between the two countries, and to express his country’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with the UAE in various sectors.
He said that his meeting with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was very positive, as they discussed the strategic partnership between the two countries and exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern, in addition to reviewing the situation in the region.
The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the international conference on stability and migration that Italy intends to organize in Rome during the summer season. It invited several countries from the African continent, Arab countries, and multilateral institutions to attend the conference, which aims to find appropriate solutions to this issue.
He referred to the promising opportunities between the business communities in both Italy and the United Arab Emirates, especially those related to the green economy and digital transformation, in line with the UAE’s role as a host country for the “COP28” conference.
Commenting on the prominent cultural projects in the UAE in general, and Abu Dhabi in particular, the Italian minister expressed his country’s aspiration for future cooperation between the two sides, given the UAE’s extensive experience in organizing prominent cultural events.
