Borderline Disturbance: Weather Forecast for Southern Belgium and Rest of Country

2023-06-20 13:56:00

A borderline undulating disturbance between two air masses should come up from France and mainly affect the southern part of the country. The provinces of Liège and especially Luxembourg seem to be on the front line but Dinant should not escape it with rains from mid-morning. They will tend to stagnate then strengthen before retreating towards the extreme south-east at the end of the followingnoon.

It’s still difficult to predict exactly but we can count on 10 to 20 or even 25 L in Dinant under 18-19°C maximum and a moderate northerly wind. Not ideal and I would postpone if it was still possible to do it, if not we take enough to cover ourselves.

Locally, we might have between 30 and 50 liters in the Ardennes this Thursday, June 22, 2023.

And on the rest of the country this Wednesday?

Calm will temporarily return with the establishment of a small ridge of high pressure. We will wake up under wide clearings and always more low clouds on the Ardennes even a residual drop on the Gaume. These stratus clouds should tear apart, revealing the sun already present elsewhere through a few veils of cirrus clouds.

In the followingnoon, a lot of sun at the sea and a west-east cloudiness. I think it will be quite nice in an alternating sky over Hainaut and the two Brabants and a little more cloudy although dry over the east of Brabants up to Namur. A remnant of instability should however affect the south-east and storm surges might affect the provinces of Luxembourg and Liège (south).

It will be local but sometimes heavy showers which should spare the rest of the country. Moderate south-westerly wind and still heavy heat.
