After Indigo, it’s Air India’s turn to ignite the second day of a relatively calm Paris Air Show apart from the announcements concerning the Indian market. Airbus benefits greatly, but this time Boeing is also celebrating. If the volumes were already known, such orders are far from trivial for the two manufacturers.
Aircraft manufacturers
After 500 planes for Indigo yesterday, Airbus received confirmation of a contract for the purchase of 250 planes by Air India on Tuesday. It follows a letter of intent signed in February. The contract includes 140 A320 NEO and 70 A321 NEO on the medium-haul, as well as 34 A350-1000 and six A350-900 on the long-haul.
In the morning, Airbus had already registered the order for nine A350s for Philippines Airlines. They will be delivered between 2025 and 2027.
The European manufacturer has also confirmed the sale of nine A220 Qantas. The Australian company now has 29 units on order.
Boeing wakes up
Boeing finally reacted on this second day. First very softly by revealing that China Airlines was the buyer of eight 787-9s, and that Air Algérie had acquired eight 737 MAX 9s. Aircraft already included in the order book.
The American manufacturer then signed real orders, even if these were already known. First, the confirmation of the giant Air India contract for 220 aircraft: 190 737 MAXs, 20 787 Dreamliners and 10 777X (with options for 50 737 MAX and 20 787). A letter of intent had been signed in February as for Airbus.
Finally, the lessor Avolon has confirmed an order for 40 737 MAX single-aisle aircraft. They will be delivered by between 2027 and 2030, but have not yet been placed in companies.

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer also in the race
Embraer also won with three orders at once, for a total of 23 aircraft and $2 billion at list price. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer thus sells seven E175s to American Airlines for its regional subsidiary American Eagle, for a price of 404 million dollars. Lessor Avolon has acquired ten E195-E2s in a leasing transaction with Porter Airlines.
Finally, Binter acquires six E195-E2s. He also revealed the name of a client for a contract signed last year, namely the rental company Azorra for 15 E195-E2s and 1.3 billion dollars.

Still on the regional side, ATR was active with the order of 22 new aircraft, as well as two others as options:
– Six ATR 72-600 pour Mandarin Airlines
– Two ATR 72-600s in all-business configuration from Berjaya Air
– Three Azul ATR 72-600s, plus options for 2 additional aircraft
– Eight ATR 72-600s from three customers whose identity has not been revealed
– Three ATR 42-600s from two customers whose identity has not been revealed.
